The Richards Family have a history and reputation for being stalwart warriors and guardians; honourable in deed and constant seekers of glory. That they have taken the duty of guarding Tintagel has caused some to wonder why more of the family do not choose to be Hunters in Darkness; it is when a group of Blood Talons decide to guard something that one has to wonder just what they have and what wants it.
The Richards Family are known to value their word over their lives, to question the word of a Richards leads swiftly to violence. While this may make the family seem unstable but this would be an incomplete view of the family; they are honourable warriors who never leave their ally, who can be trusted to stand by their beliefs and never let injustice stand.
Guardians of Tintagel
Castle dates back to the 13th century and is strongly linked to Arthurian myth, Celtic history and Uratha legend. For over a thousand years this site has boasted a fortress, with the crurrent ruins built upon ancient ones.
In the 12th century Geoffrey of Monmouth put forth the claim that Tintagel was where King Uther Pendragon seduced Queen Igraine of Cornwall, while her husband, Gorlois, was under siege elsewhere. King Arthur was thus conceived and Tennyson made the castle his birthplace. In later Arthurian legend the castle's main role is as the chief castle of King Mark of Cornwall, who was the uncle of Sir Tristan and husband of Iseult. They famously engage in a secret affair behind his back.
Tintagel has also been claimed to have originally been a Celtic fortress or monastary built after the Romans left Britain. It is often speculated that it was a summer residence for the rulers of Dumnonia. The Ravenna Cosmography, of around 700, makes reference to Purocoronavis, (almost certainly a corruption of Durocornovium), 'a fort or walled settlement of the Cornovii, (unidentified, but possibly referring to Tintagel Castle or Carn Brea castle).
Appearance
The Richards Family is an old bloodline of Blood Talons and like many such families in the UK they tend to have Urhan forms that resemble the hellhounds and demon dogs of legend. The Family tends to have pure white fur in all of their alternate forms, often changing the persons hair colour slightly even in Dalu.
Famed Richards
Brightaxe; Claimed by some to be the first of the Richards line the Rahu Brightaxe was a fierce and dedicated warrior and a sworn follower of Budic, the King of Storms. Brightaxe was so named for the mighty axe which he would wield with one hand in the near-man form, holding a mighty shield in the other. The axe was said to have been a family weapon of great history - several times though legend a mighty axe has appeared which some historians believe is his.
